These are a few of my favorite things

I don't think I need to tell you that if I had a nickel for every time I have been asked, "so what do you like to do for fun?" I'd be a rich woman. I'm sure you know just as well as me how often this question comes up after introductions are made and you've moved on to small talk. You probably also know what a silly question this is. If I said everything that I like, people would either think that I was bragging about myself or I just happened to get smacked over the head and for the moment and got amnesia. So, I have decided that it might be good idea to actually have an idea of what I really like to do so that I don't have one of the two extremes. I give any and all who are reading to stop at any time. Really, this is just for myself, and will probably be boring, so feel free to use your time in a more productive way. So, I'm going to use the classic style of brain storming- whatever comes to mind, say it.

I enjoy reading books. I have said this ever since I learned to read, which was later in life than most children. I remember being adamantly opposed to learning to read- probably because it scared me. I was in kindergarten and just learning letters was enough for me, it seemed so impossible to put them all together. I remember various people attempting to teach me, but the one who really accomplished the task was my stepmother, Malvina. After that first book, it was so wonderful to keep getting books from the library and discovering their stories by translating the letters and understanding the pictures. In later years of elementary school I loved going to the school library and searching for the fattest book in the fiction section. Thin books seemed like a waste of time- they were over too quickly! So, from my youth I have carried the love of books and a good story. It seems like when I say now that I love reading it's almost like a lie because I never have the time to read. Reading is also something that seems to set people apart- usually it sounds like I should also complete the sentence with, "... and play dungeons and dragons."

Another thing I really enjoy doing is exercising. It's true, I enjoy going to the gym and getting a good workout. I enjoy the good feeling afterwards, knowing that I'm being healthy, and seeing my muscles grow over time. However, saying this isn't usually the best idea when you aren't just trying to think of what to do after school with your friend. Let's admit it- when you hear someone say, "I go to the gym every day" immediately you think they're trying to show how they're better than you because you seem to have muscular dystrophy. The only other time you hear it is if a guy's trying to show off and while he says it he conveniently points to something behind him.

I started this post on the 20th of December, and never came back to finish it.  However, I don't really have time now to complete that list of things I enjoy doing.  So, here is the beginning post, and maybe someday I'll decide to finish the ever-lengthening list of hobbies I enjoy.

Oh oh! Good hobbies, reading a plus, exercise if you must, and procrastinating gives it just the right touch! ;)

I love it! Reading does not make you seem like a person who plays D&D, that would be my FHE brothers, who leave after FHE at 8pm, exactly, every week to play D&D. Every other time they play video games. Reading is a hecka lot better than that, not even on the same plane.

I loved the D&D comment. I know a few guys who, should you finish your earlier sentence that way, would probably invite to join their "guild."
